Hands On treatment ease the pressure on insurance agents

Hands On Treatment, a Proudly South African established local mobile massage company and Level 1 BBBEE Contributor, has provided much-needed stress relief for the employees of a well known leader in the South African insurance services market.

In January 2014, the wellness company visited their call centre in Centurion, to offer its services on site to approximately 2,500 employees as part of their employee wellness programme. The high levels of stress that often characterises the insurance services environment is acknowledged by management and therefore regularly invests in wellness activities to boost morale and improve working conditions for the benefit of staff. As part of their wellness programme, employees were treated to a five minute seated neck massage at their workstations, so there was no interference in operation or downtime that would impact negatively on productivity.

After conducting interviews with the employees, the results were unanimous – all employees immediately felt more relaxed, their mood improved significantly and they felt more revitalised and energetic.

Martina Laurie, CEO of Hands On Treatment, says the insurance market is particularly competitive and the constant stress takes its toll on the general wellbeing of agents, account managers and other employees. The seated neck and shoulder massage positively enhances the mood of the agent, which in turn helps the agent to get on with his or her job.

“We are regularly called in to companies who operate in extremely pressurised markets… management understands the need to look after employees, that their wellbeing is connected to productivity levels,” Laurie explains. “The power of an onsite massage service is that the benefits are felt immediately.”

The Company’s therapists are all fully trained and are mobile professionals who understand the significance of a relaxed, stress-free workforce.
