Attix5 backup solution adopted by multinational ICT solutions providers

Various global IT services and consulting company have joined the expanding international client base of Attix5 by partnering with it to migrate thousands of its users to the Attix5 Pro V8 solution. Partnerships are designed to meet the evolving backup requirements of both IT solutions architects the end customer.

“We are looking at a scalable solution where providers can sign up with a small selection of customers and scale the business with Attix5. We have expanded the relationship over the years and have incrementally added more users to the implementation,” says Heidi Weyers, general manager of sales at Attix5.

Initially, the Attix5 Pro V7 solution was used to not only automate backups but provide additional redundancy for organisations in South Africa. However, as organisational needs evolve, so does the requirements of the backup solution. Clients want to minimise the impact on system resources while users are performing backups in order for them to carry on with their work.

“The latest version of our software is designed to scale according to the resources available on the computer of a user. Once they step away from their desk, Attix5 takes over and runs at full capacity. This is a much more effective way to manage the backups for the client and a strategy that has proven very successful,” says Weyers.

Furthermore, it provides our clients with innovative deduplication features. This means that files with the same data hash only get stored once reducing the time of backups and ensuring only new files are stored.

Employees can decide which files and folders have to be backed up and can schedule a daily backup time. At the appointed time, all additional files and file changes are encrypted using global advanced encryption standard process protocol and securely passed to the backup server. The backup storage server can be LAN or cloud based or a combination of the two. This means clients, irrespective of their geographic location, can focus on their core business while the Attix5 solution takes care of their backup requirements.

“What really sets Attix5 apart from other backup solutions is the SP Console and VirtualRestore. This gives IT administrative staff the ability to access all the backups of the company and have immediate access to the data for backup auditing and mining purposes. While encrypted backups are protected, the IT staff can manage which files and folders are backed up and monitor to see if backups happen as scheduled. Using our advanced and customisable reporting, the IT teams at our clients can make sure their company gets the most out of its backup strategy,” she adds.
